Chris Brown – “Fantasy” (Dj Rell & Dj Tricks Remix)...

What is Jersey House? I’ll let MTV answer that. Our job is present the music and maybe talk about where it came from. But this is a Teddie article, so press play and enjoy already. (DJ Rell/DJ Tricks/Jersey...

Alt-J – “Slow Dre”...

Despite their bassist, Gwil Sainsbury, leaving earlier this year, Alt-J is still plugging along with concert dates and working on their follow-up album. This track is a “unique mashup” of Kylie Minogue’s “Slow” and Dr. Dre’s “Still Dre.” SMH at the term “mashup,” it’s a blend....

Javeon – “Intoxicated”...

What do I know about this track “Intoxicated” by Javeon? It’s jammin’. What do I know about Javeon? Pitchfork tells me: Here’s “Intoxicated”, a smooth new song from UK singer Javeon McCarthy (who apparently is just going by ‘Javeon’ now). The tune was produced by out-and-about UK house guy Julio Bashmore, and sees release later this month via PMR. More soulful over a 4×4 beat than anything Ne-Yo has put out in the last 5 years....

Tensnake feat. Nile Rodgers and Fiora – “Good Enough To Keep”...

Childish Gambino – “What Kind Of Love” Mar13

Childish Gambino – “What Kind Of Love”...

Back in December an unfinished version of “What Kind Of Love” from Childish Gambino leaked to the massive. Speculation was that the acoustic track would be a bonus cut on a deluxe version of Because The Internet. Four months later that was not the case, but Bino was alerted that the track was being sold on iTunes anyways. His response: i saw that someone is selling this on iTunes. i gave this away for free since it’s incomplete and a rough. thought it was wack someone did that without my permission. so i put it up here. And here we are....

The Alchemist & Budgie feat. Action Bronson, A$ton Matthews, and J.Rocc – “With My Soul” Mar12

The Alchemist & Budgie feat. Action Bronson, A$ton Matthews, and J.Rocc – “With My Soul”...

I don’t know know much influence The Alchemist has on Budgie’s production methods, but this beat is a fucking banger. I haven’t heard horns that crisp and forthright on a rap song since “The Funeral” hit the massive. And Bronsolini gets first crack at this cacophony with this line: What if Allen Iverson was Chinese riding on a Harley? What the fuck is that? The microphone can barely handle the intricate bars of non sequitir verbal wordplay. A$ton Matthews continues to impress me as a gruff counter voice to Action’s rapid delivery. Budgie’s album is available at this link. I am inferring that the production is gospel-based. And it definitely works as source material....

Banks – “Brain” (video)...

Back in January we had the audio for BANKS’s new single, “Brain.” Now we have the visuals. Produced by Shlohmo. Maybe you should find a nice quiet spot by yourself before pressing play. Imjussayin. (2dopeboyz/Hernameisbanks)...

Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne and French Montana/Too $hort – “Loyal” Mar12

Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne and French Montana/Too $hort – “Loyal”...

“Loyal” is the 4th(!) single by Chris Brown from his oft-delayed sixth album, X. Two versions got sent around to all the North American Black pop…errrr rhythmic contemporary radio stations. Both tracks have Breezy (natch) and frequent collaborator Weezy, but the East Coast version is saddled with a double-recycled verse from French Montana while the West Coast version has an invigorated Too $hort spitting hot fyah. On first listen the pangs of listening to Wayne’s boilerplate wordplay and the robotic bounce turned me off. However, Chris can still sing better than most. And who doesn’t like a song about unfaithful bitches. Soon enough I’m humming the chorus. I do not recommend listening to the East Coast version when French Montana starts reciting Biggie’s verses I strongly recommend listening to the West Coast version because it gets better from Wayne to Chris to...

Movement – “Like Lust”...

Last year Movement released the excellent single, “Us” complete with a disturbing video with a threadbare resemblance to the song. Or maybe it the song and video tied together exactly and I’m the dope. Well here’s their next excellent single, “Like Lust” which is bit more sinuous and atmospheric. (Pitchfork) BONUS VIDEO: Movement –...

Roman GianArthur – “I-69” Mar12

Roman GianArthur – “I-69”...

Below is the tweet from my personal unrequited crush, Janelle Monae, gushing about her fellow Wondaland artist, Roman GianArthur. I was instantly impressed by this dude when he opened for Janelle Monae in LA, and he didn’t mush me in the face disparaging my height. Yes go #Roman! http://t.co/tkyYytA0cB — Janelle Monae (@JanelleMonae) March 10, 2014 Thank you to McDonal…errr The Boombox for the live venue and video of the “I-69” performance. Frank Ocean + Mick Jones + Paul Simonon – “Hero” (prod. by Diplo) Mar12

Frank Ocean + Mick Jones + Paul Simonon – “Hero” (prod. by Diplo)...

I’m a rap dude, so excuse for not knowing about The Clash. I may know some of their songs, but in 2014 here they are providing a nice soundbed for Frank to croon over and Diplo to tweak later. Mick Jones & Paul Simonon (The Clash) and Diplo have surprisingly collaborated on an original song titled “Hero.” The offering has been made available courtesy of Coverse’s ongoing Three Artists, One Song series, and experiments between a dash of the ’60s and a modern day inclusion of instrumentation, along with additional vocals arriving from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. (OnSmash/Converse Music) BTS Video...

SZA – “Babylon” Mar12

SZA – “Babylon”...

It’s like FKA Twigs musically, but SZA’s voice is richer and stronger. The themes of desire and despair remain the same. Honestly, the song just keeps putting me to sleep. I believe it’s good, just not for me right now. Yawn....

Scott Melker, the man behind the fascinating Ballin Oates, comes through again with Red Hot Trilli Peppers. There’s not much to say. Listen already. This shit is fun. Fuck with this! (The Melker...
