PARTYNEXTDOOR feat. Drake – “Recognize”...

PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Recognize” featuring Drake is a sleeper track that needs to be blasted at strip clubs across North America. Or at the very least, every creeping muthafucker or booty-called bitch driving to their destination to do their dirt should be enveloped in PND’s sinister atmosphere. “Recognize” is the anthem for disloyalty. And as PND’s plaintive voice transforms into something akin to Young Thug and the track reaches a crescendo, here comes Drake when he doesn’t need to save the day. While I am certainly somebody who really appreciates and likes the juxtaposition of opposite voices, this track is all PARTYNEXTDOOR. A word about the video. Those Megan Fox clones lip syncing to the track are Kendall and Kylie Jenner. In 2014 we give passes to white girls mouthing the word “nigga” because ultimate white girls put their mouths on niggas. I digress from my cynicism. In a day when Chris Brown (America’s Sweetheart) is the dominant R&B primary singer and the radio allows clones like August Alsina, Kid Ink, and Kirko Bangz orbit around Brown, it is a fucking coup for a new artist like PARTYNEXTDOOR to have two of the most well-known females in the world cameo in his video. On top of that, this track is a fascinating, well-constructed R&B track with emotion to rival other R&B indie artists like FKA Twigs or Toro Y Moi. “Recognize” should be ubiquitous on the singular strength of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s creativity. The Drake feature helps. Kendall and Kylie cameos help. Put this nigga on. PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO is out now on iTunes. (Nahright/October’s Very Own) PARTYNEXTDOOR – Recognize ft. iLoveMakonnen feat. Drake – “Club Going Up On A Tuesday”...

Music is disposable and comes at you fast. Output has conquered polish. And artists who may have one facet figured out have to improvise to unleash the whole jewel of their message. iLoveMakonnen does not have a great singing voice, but the track is beautiful on its own. And with Drake on board, it’s now hit my consciousness and hopefully a broader audience. The message is universal from Makonnen. I’m working hard through the weekend, but I still want to tear the club down when I’m off, which happens to be on a Tuesday. (2dopeboyz) OG version and...

Drake on Macklemore’s apology to Kendrick Lamar: “Wack as F–k” Feb12

Drake on Macklemore’s apology to Kendrick Lamar: “Wack as F–k”...

After Macklemore (and Ryan Lewis) won Best Rap Album and Album of the Year, news circulated that Macklemore texted Kendrick Lamar to apologize for winning and how Kendrick’s album should’ve won. The text screenshots were from Macklemore’s phone, so people did doubt the sincerity of his apology but tepidly applauded the gesture. Well, the quiet majority is speaking up starting with Drake, a fellow Best Rap album nominee. In an upcoming Rolling Stone interview, Drake posited, “that shit was wack as fuck.” “I was like, ‘You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn’t deserve it, go get better — make better music,'” he tells us. “It felt cheap. It didn’t feel genuine. Why do that? Why feel guilt? You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won?” Thank you, Drake, for saying what I’ve been saying since the Grammys. Good luck getting your own text message from Macklemore. (Rolling...

Wheelchair Jimmy has some new kicks that yall will be cleaning with a toothbrush. Drake has partnered with Jordan Brand to create Air Jordan 10 OVO and Air Jordan 12 OVO. Alleged they will be coming out soon… no release date yet. Per Sneaker News, “all four feature a deluxe stingray leather treatment.” I don’t know what that means, but I like it. Personally 12s > 10s, but you can decide for yourself. Drake feat. Soulja Boy – “We Made It” (freestyle) Jan01

Drake feat. Soulja Boy – “We Made It” (freestyle)...

Last year Drake introduced a new flow prefixed onto the Migos club banger “Versace,” and the world was primed for Nothing Was The Same. Fast forward six months and here’s another Drake beat jacking; this time he eviscerates the new Soulja Boy (Last Name: Tell Em?) track, “We Made It.” Once you add some prime Kenny Powers sound bytes, or should I say “fiiixins,” and 2 verses from Wheelchair Jimmy namedropping Walgreens and recapping his Caribbean excursions, why the fuck did we need the ghost of Soulja Boy’s original “lyrics” at the end? “Nigga, we made it!” is all that was needed. Ahhh it is easy to cast aside Soulja Boy’s contribution, since this typewriter beat, produced by Purp Dogg, was culled from his mixtape . Like KP says mid-song, “Enjoy the...
